About Us

The Saint Timothy Society for Lutheran Seminary Scholarship is dedicated to promoting "faithfulness and excellence in teaching, instruction, research, scholarship and publication in and for Lutheran Seminaries in the United States and abroad", and we do so following the Word of God and the Book of Concord.  If you're curious about what that means in our case, read on!

The Saint Tim Society (for short; you can see our full name above) organised in 2007, incorporated and applied for charitable status as a 501c3 organisation the following year.  Our purpose:

“..to promote faithfulness and excellence in teaching, instruction, research, scholarship and publication in and for Lutheran Seminaries in the United States and abroad by encouraging and advocating (a) the historic doctrine, practice and moral standards of the Word of God and the Book of Concord of 1580, (b) the propagation of the Christian faith and life, and (c) education, information and outreach directed to the public consistent with these purposes.” - (Articles of Incorporation, IV, The Saint Timothy Society)
Our major project has been to provide a professor for the Lutheran seminary of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kenya at Matongo, a post in which Tom Aadland has served since 2008.
